Bear Creek Lake to host annual Lights at the Lake
Experience an amazing light display and activities for the whole family

CUMBERLAND, VA – The 9th annual Lights at the Lake event will take place at Bear Creek Lake State Park.

On December 1, 2 and 3, and again on December 8, 9 and 10, from 5 p.m. until 7:30 p.m., park visitors will have the opportunity to drive their car through the park’s campground and beach area to experience a wonderland of lights and community displays.

“Conceived and spearheaded by the Friends of Bear Creek Lake State Park, this unique assembly of lights and decorations remains a joyous time to bring friends, family and community together,” said Bear Creek Lake State Park Manager Joey Dayton. “The event has grown over the years into one of the biggest light displays in the region. Santa will also be at the park giving out free candy canes and coloring books.”

Admission is a new unwrapped toy or a monetary donation to benefit the Cumberland Christmas Mother.

Additional activities will include s'mores kits, a warming campfire, and a free ornament craft station. Light fare and seasonal merchandise will be available for purchase at the Lakeside Snack Bar.

The Friends of Bear Creek Lake State Park will be at Bear Creek Hall with other seasonal items and raffle tickets for a hand-made quilt. Only on Sunday, December 10, they will offer a take-home grilled chicken dinner for $12. To pre-order the dinner, please call the park office at 804-492-4410.
